This event discussed the aspects of morning meetings and how to implement them in the classroom. Members went through the elements of morning meetings by participating in activities and games.

The Ins-and-Outs of Interactive Notebooks

This event introduced a teaching tool known as interactive notebooks and allowed members to learn about the organizational and creative benefits. Additionally, members got to participate in making three interactive notebook spreads.

English Language Learner Panel

Members in Attendance: Kristen Loughlin, Olivia Hocker, Jennifer Knerr, Kaitlyn Grzenda, Kim Carduff, and the SPSEA members in Dr. Della Valle’s LAN 382 classes


Ten former English Language Learners shared their experience with learning English and how their teachers helped them best learn. Each panelist gave an overview of their experiences before the audience was invited to ask questions.

Classrooms Apps Night

Members had the opportunity to learn about six different apps that can be used in the classroom to promote learning and foster understanding. The event was divided into stations where members had the opportunity to use each app and engage in a group discussion.

Diversity in the Workplace with Justin Brown

Members listened to Justin Brown, Resident Director at West Chester University as well as author, speak about diversity in the workplace and how it applies to teachers.

Classroom Management Night

Members discussed different scenarios that may occur in a classroom and how to handle these scenarios. Members then partook in some mindful coloring sheets to demonstrate one of the many relaxing, fun assignments teachers can provide their students after they are done with all of their work or as an activity for students to do after a test.
